Come sing! Spring season rehearsals begin January 9

Rehearsals for our spring season will begin on Monday, January 9, 2012, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm in the choir room at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 W. Friendly Avenue. All interested singers are invited and there are no auditions. We will practice every Monday evening beginning January 9 and continuing through April. The registration fee is $25 and there will be an additional charge for the music. We will be singing John Rutter’s Psalmfest and Maurice Durufle’s Requiem. We will perform these works in concert at the following locations and time:

Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 4:00pm, Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 310 Tremont Drive, Greensboro

Sunday April 29, 2012 at 7:00 pm, Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro

Sunday May 6, 2012 at 4:00 pm, Peace United Church of Christ, 2714 W. Market Street, Greensboro

Messiah Rehearsals Begin!

Rehearsals for our 58th annual presentation of Handel’s Messiah will begin on Monday, October 31, at 7:30 pm at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2600 Pisgah Church Road, Greensboro, NC. Rehearsals will continue on every Monday night through November and are open to all interested adult singers without audition. Auditions are required for singers ages 17 and younger. Registration will begin at 7:00 pm and the registration fee is $25. Scores will be available for purchase if you do not have one.

The dress rehearsal is scheduled for Tuesday, December 6, at the War Memorial Auditorium at 7:15 pm. The performance is on Thursday, December 8 at 7:00 pm at the War Memorial Auditorium. Singers must register no later than the second practice and attendance at the dress rehearsal is mandatory!

Time To Sing!

Summer is almost over and it’s time to get ready to sing again!  Please join the Greensboro Oratorio Singers for our 2011-2012 year.  Rehearsals begin September 12th at 7:30 p.m. with registration at 7:00 p.m. at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, (corner of Friendly and Westridge) in the choir room.

Our focus for the fall will be on giving service to the community.  We will be performing Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi and the Hallelujah Chorus by Ludwig van Beethoven  for the residents of several retirement homes.  Our confirmed concert dates are Oct. 16th (Sunday) at Friends Home West at 7pm and Oct. 23th (Sunday) at Carolina Estates Retirement Community at 3pm.  On Monday, October 31st, we will begin rehearsals for our annual Messiah production which will be held at the War Memorial Auditorium on Thursday, December 8th.
